About me
I have been a mother for 30 years, which gives me a big advantage, experience. I know what troubles and worries you face on your journey as a parent and, while I can’t stop them, I can help.
Every parent knows what is best for their child. No-one can look after your child better than you. But if you are a first or even second time parent, the task can seem overwhelming. While medicine has advanced to a stage where we take our baby's survival pretty much for granted, we now worry more about whether they will grow up to be happy, well balanced adults, who contribute to society, not take from it. Will they do well at school, will they be popular, have friends, be liked. There are plenty TV shows and books about what to do when things go wrong, but as the old adage says, prevention is better than cure.
There is no system of parenting that can guarantee what your child will end up like and while much of the blame lands on parents, there are many other factors which influence your childs development.
What children need most is dependable carers, people who are always there, always consistent and always responsive to their needs. Of course, parents are prefered but the traditional mother-baby only relationship tends to isolate both parent and child from the rest of the family. Children who have a range of carers tend to become socially aware and independent quicker because they are exposed to many different people and have more interaction.
I attained my SVQ Level 3 - Child Care Learning & Development in October 2008 and my last inspection rated my service as a Level 5 - Very Good, with 6 being the highest, you can find out more from the Care Commissions website.
I love working with children, they are so innocent and honest, watching them grow and learn is the best thing about my job. Go to the next section to find out more about what to look for in a childminder.
